Ring

After their 23-year-old daughter dies mysteriously in a desert of the West while assisting immigrants, a middle-aged non-binary person from the Midwest leaves everything behind, including their job and their longtime spouse, and travels to a remote, snow-covered sanctuary–a kind of New Age facility that prepares the dying for death–to decide whether to walk out into the snow and end their life in some ritualistic way. In the end, they find hope to carry on when they encounter an older dog who might otherwise die with his owner.
