Regular visitors of the website may have noticed the Trans Literature Database has a new look. This is because I have migrated the database from a WordPress plugin to TinyCat, a library catalog platform from LibraryThing.
The WordPress plugin worked well enough, but it was labor intensive and my workflow in entering books was slow and complicated. With TinyCat/LibraryThing I can add books quickly, and this allows me to focus on tagging so that it will be easier to find books you like. For example, here are science fiction books by trans femme writers and children’s books with nonbinary characters.
The one loss in moving to the new platform is there will be no buy links. These were intended to make it easier for visitors to find the books in their preferred store, and to earn a little money for the website. Few purchases were made however, and the process of adding those links was arduous, so I thought it best to focus my time and energy on adding books and tags.
With the database taking less of my time to maintain, I am planning on blogging more, highlighting books and other topics related to trans literature. (Any buy links in blog posts will be affiliate links, so if you purchase through them I will receive a small commission.)
There are currently over 940 items in the database, and I am adding more every day. Visit often and watch us grow.
